You will need:
A mug or cup
Some fresh ginger (about an inch)
One lemon
Honey
Boiling Hot Water
Peel and grate the fresh ginger into your mug.
Squeeze the juice of one lemon over this.
Add a tablespoon of honey (vary this depending on your taste preference and how sweet you want it).
Top up with boiling water. Let it brew for a few minutes and then drink.
I think warm drinks are so important when you have a cold or sinus problems and the ginger, honey and lemon all work together to kick your sinuses in to touch.
Some people say to add whisky and not the ginger, rum and brandy has also been suggested. Personally I like it with the honey, ginger and lemon.
Picture to follow.

ReplyDeleteWe do the same and add a pinch of cayenne pepper to open up the sinuses.
ReplyDeletePerfect. I love Helene's idea with Cayenne too. You see i am a hot chick LOL! Nice one Amanda!
ReplyDeleteThe addition of cayenne does sound really good. I'll try that next time.
ReplyDeletei've been sipping mugs of this (with whisky added) for the past few days and as usual it seems to be sorting me out. i hate colds.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid (growing up in a hippie commune) we had to drink the most amazingly horrible concoction containing, garlic, honey, lemon, ginger and cayenne. Then you would try not vomit and go to bed to sweat it out.
ReplyDeleteRemarkably effective, but I have to say I prefer hot lemon with ginger or a mug of almond milk cocoa with some cayenne and cinnamon and a good hot curry!
