I was once very annoyed by the man who was sweating out on the treadmill, with his sweat all over... and then just walked away without wiping/disinfecting...

Hele, would you write about proper shoes for workouts - Reading Meeta's comment makes me wonder if my pair of cross trainers aren't good enough.Kayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07938245544735604650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22910471.post-15835482700532365412007-06-27T20:47:00.000+02:002007-06-27T20:47:00.000+02:00Lovely post! I agree so much on those tips.I have ...Lovely post! I agree so much on those tips.

I have some to add of my own:
- Perfume. I don't mind the smell of sweat - hey, we're all human - but sweat mingled with perfume or bad deodorant is a surefire way to get me retching and gasping for breath. Luckily this hasn't occured in the gym I go to right now yet...
- Hogging the machines. It's just not nice, especially if you're just stretching and talking in between series of repetitions and taking your sweet time.

What's your stance on repetitions and how much weight to put on machines? Or is that material for the next installment?

What's yjokergirl@wererabbitshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00201963556604971582noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22910471.post-64868701605069585712007-06-27T16:49:00.000+02:002007-06-27T16:49:00.000+02:00You mean no stillettos on the elliptical machine!!...You mean no stillettos on the elliptical machine!!!!! I thought working out like Mariah Carey was the ONLY way to do it! LOL - sorry I couldn't resist. Great post - it reminded me of the MTV Cribs episode when Mariah Carey was seen working the stairmaster in stilletos and I almost gagged on my cheetos! I am so with Meeta on the gym attire comment. Ladies there is no need a black sports bra with a bright brink bra layered over it and finished with a fishnet top (if you are wearing all this - the 80's have an ABP out on you and they want their clothes back!) -- PreetiAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22910471.post-82962194041968426002007-06-23T19:19:00.000+02:002007-06-23T19:19:00.000+02:00If you could find me a gym which isn't full of lad...If you could find me a gym which isn't full of ladies who are dressed to the nines (near here of course), I promise that I will go regularly. Make up, perfect hair - fixed with hairspray, jewelry and the latest gym gear!! I look like such a drag in comparison in my Hard Rock Cafe T-shirts and gym pants, no make-up etc. LOL!

I see a lot of the men coming in and training in flip flops too. Unfortunately our trainers do not always stay on top of things and send these people off of the training area.

I have two pair of sneakers: 1 for my aerobic classes, especially made for the impact for such classes and a pair of normal Gel-FX Asics for the basic training with weights and on the cardio machines. As Tom is a runner and runs a lot of marathon he pays very close attention to all our shoes we wear for different activities. The right shoes are soooo important as it helps prevent many injuries and problems that can occur.

And the best way I avoid getting chatted up at the gym? My iPod helps me - unsocial some say but I socialize after my workouts.

Helene, thanks for pointing some of these great things. They are so often taken for granted.Meeta K.
